Our Story
A vision of compassion, a legacy of service, and a commitment to community
A vision of compassion, a legacy of service, and a commitment to community
The Dr. Rabinder Nath Foundation was founded in 2016 by Abhishek Nath, driven by a deeply personal mission to honor the memory and continue the legacy of his father, the late Dr. Rabinder Nath.
Growing up witnessing his father's unwavering commitment to community service, Abhishek understood that true impact comes not just from good intentions, but from creating sustainable systems that serve people with dignity and compassion.
"My father believed that no act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted. He spent his life serving others, and through this foundation, we ensure that his spirit of giving continues to touch lives every single day."
While Dr. Rabinder Nath's great-great-grandfather, Rai Bahadur Mul Raj, was a towering figure in India's freedom movement—founding Punjab National Bank and the D.A.V. College movement—the family's fortunes did not pass down untouched. Through the upheavals of partition and the passage of time, the family rebuilt from scratch, relying not on inherited wealth, but on education and determination.
Dr. Rabinder Nath pursued excellence through education, earning his dental degree (B.D.S.) from Osmania Medical College, where he served as Chairman of the Dental Students Federation of India. He completed advanced training in oral surgery at Lucknow Dental College (1974) and earned M.R.S.H. from the Royal College of Surgeons, England.
Academic Leadership: First Union President at A.V. College
Every achievement—his dental practice, his books, his social impact—was earned through his own hard work, not inherited privilege
Dr. Rabinder Nath became beloved across Hyderabad on his own merits, creating a legacy that is entirely his own
The ancestral story connects him to a proud history, but Dr. Rabinder Nath's achievements are a testament to his personal dedication, brilliance, and compassion. He proved that true legacy is not inherited—it is earned.
Beyond his dental practice, Dr. Rabinder Nath dedicated his life to serving rural and underserved communities
Pioneered mobile dental healthcare by establishing "Portadent," bringing professional dental care to rural populations who had no access to dental services.
Founded in 1992 at Shamirpet, this rural hospital provided completely free treatment and medicines, serving over 80,000 patients from underserved communities.
Conducted successful field trials on Mefenamic acid (anti-inflammatory), leading to the development of Tromaril drug by R.R. Labs, Hyderabad.
Established another rural dental hospital in Mahabubnagar district, extending quality dental care to remote areas.

Leveraging innovative infrastructure to maximize community reach and sustainable impact
At DRNF, we believe that maximizing social impact requires thinking beyond traditional charity models. Rather than building separate infrastructure from scratch, we strategically partner with LooCafe—founded in 2018, now operating 270+ community-accessible facilities across Hyderabad.
Our partnership with LooCafe began after their establishment in 2018, allowing us to place our free chai counters where people naturally gather, ensuring our services reach those who need them most. By utilizing existing infrastructure, we can focus our resources directly on community service rather than construction and maintenance.
The collaboration is documented in LooCafe's Toilet Tales, showcasing how community-driven NGO initiatives like ours can create meaningful impact through smart partnerships with infrastructure providers.
Strategic infrastructure partnership enables wider community reach
In 2022-2023, we successfully piloted our Free Chai Counter program across 30 locations, validating our approach and refining our operational model. The results exceeded our expectations:
Current Status: We now operate 2 permanent free chai counters, with plans to expand across the network as resources allow. Our focus remains on quality of service and community impact, ensuring every cup served comes with dignity and compassion.
Our commitment to environmental and social excellence has been recognized by leading organizations
